This website was created by Paula Flood as an information resource on prenatal yoga. Paula has taught yoga in Dublin since 1999. She qualified with the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre, Northern Ireland and completed her prenatal training with Birthlight tutors Marion Symes and Eryl Holt. She also trained at the Institute of Yoga, Bangalore, India (Vivekananda Kendra) where a special maternity clinic combines Western medicine and traditional Indian methods such as yoga and ayurveda.

Paula writes: ‘My yoga practice and teaching have been influenced by various yoga teachers and styles, including Hatha, Iyengar and Viniyoga. More recently I have been inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, author of 'Awakening the Spine' and herself a student of B.K.S. Iyengar and T.K.V. Desikachar in the late 1940s. Based on the natural principals of gravity and breath, the aim is to undo tension in the body. The practice is both gentle and strong and it allows us to move toward the classical postures (asana) with ease and grace.'

Paula teaches regular and prenatal yoga in Glasnevin and at Lotus Yoga in the city centre. She is a course tutor on the YTTC Level One Teacher Training programme, with responsibility for the Anatomy module.

Since beginning prenatal yoga classes in Dublin in 2001, Paula has taught hundreds of women. Please see Testimonials for some of their comments.

Paula also practices meditation and teaches free meditation classes at the Dublin Sri Chinmoy Centre.
